Gel-X

Full-cover soft gel tips bonded over the whole nail — extensions without sculpting. Also called: Soft-gel extensions, full-cover gel tips.

Gel-X (a brand name widely used generically) is a soft-gel extension system: pre-formed, full-cover clear tips that bond over the entire nail plate with a gel adhesive cured under a lamp. Unlike traditional tips, which are glued to the free edge and blended, a full-cover tip becomes the whole new nail in one piece — no sculpting, no forms, no monomer smell.

The system sits between gel polish and acrylic: real length and shape, a gentler application, and removal by acetone soak rather than filing. Wear is typically three to four weeks. Its honest limits are at the extremes — very long, very dramatic architecture is still acrylic's home turf — but for everyday extension lengths it has become many artists' default, and many clients' favourite removal experience.
