Milky white

A sheer, cloudy white — white with light in it, your nail line faintly visible through. Also called: Milk bath nails.

Milky white is the base layer of half the viral looks of recent years (glazed donut included) and the cleanest standalone manicure in the book. The translucency is the trick: your own nail tone participates, so it reads luminous rather than stark and grows out as a whisper.

It is not solid white (opaque, graphic, chips loudly), not glazed (that adds pearl powder), and not sheer nude (which leans toward skin, not light). 'Sheer, cloudy, not built to opaque' is the brief.
